Educational institutions needed a powerful digital platform to manage PTE exam preparation for thousands of students. The system had to support structured courses, realistic mock tests, automated scoring, real-time notifications, and subscription-based access.
Another major challenge was building a multi-tenant architecture that would allow multiple organizations to operate within the same system while maintaining strict data isolation, security, and performance.
Handling large volumes of exam attempts, student analytics, file uploads, and real-time interactions while maintaining reliability and scalability required a robust backend architecture.
We developed LuminaPTE, a scalable SaaS platform built with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL using Prisma ORM.
The system architecture was designed around multi-tenant principles, ensuring that each organization operates independently while sharing the same infrastructure.
Key implementations included:
• Advanced assessment engine supporting practice tests, section tests, and full-length mock exams
• Real-time communication system using Socket.IO with Redis adapter
• Secure authentication system with JWT, OAuth login, OTP verification, and role-based permissions
• Background job processing using BullMQ for email delivery, analytics, and scheduled tasks
• Cloud-based media storage using AWS S3 and Cloudinary
• Subscription and billing system integrated with SSLCommerz
• Performance optimization using Redis caching and efficient database queries
The frontend application was developed with Next.js to deliver a fast, responsive, and interactive learning environment for students and educators.
LuminaPTE successfully launched as a high-performance online learning platform supporting multiple institutions and thousands of students preparing for the PTE exam.
